Welcome to your Mountain Holiday Accommodation at Tanjil Bren. Ski, Fish, Walk or just Relax......... Our three lodges are located in the old gold prospector’s village of Tanjil Bren. This historical town is only a 2-2 1/2 hours drive east of Melbourne, in the Baw Baw ranges. We are the closest Mt Baw Baw accommodation off mountain, only 20 minutes away. Mt Baw Baw offers good skiing, both downhill, cross country and snow boarding. Tanjil Bren is a still an undiscovered place of fresh air, has clean water, and provides tranquility in the heart of the forest. Here, you can relax in rustic luxury. Firewood is supplied and burning upon your arrival in cold weather. Wood boxes are located adjacent to the combustion heaters therefore no chopping of wood is necessary, and there is a lovely feel to the lodges. Solar power provides electricity and gas is used for lighting, cooking, hot water and the fridge therefore the lodges are very environmentally friendly. The gas lights and candles provide a very cosy atmosphere. Further, the water is from a natural spring that originates from a steep highland close by. You will be surprised at how good it tastes. The abundance of bird life is a birdwatchers paradise, from tiny Blue Wrens to magnificent Lyrebirds that live in the forest just minutes away and lots of Rosella’s, King Parrots, black and white Cockatoos, Kookaburras, Wattle Birds and even some Eagles. Wombats, Wallabies, Possums, Echidnas, and for the very serious animal lover, Deer can sometimes be spotted close to the village. Koala Bears have been seen as close as Icy Creek and Platypus in the local river, just a short drive from the lodges. There is a variety of walks and things to do, or you may just choose to relax with your family or friends in front of the fire. This is a great place to “get away” and feed the Rosellas, Parrots and Kookaburras during the day and Possums at night or choose from one of the many things to do in our 'Activities' section. Take your time and look around our website. We know you are going to have a great time up here and look forward to seeing you, where you will be most welcome. |
